brand new - billboard
9 June, 2007 – 11:21 ami am actually out of superlatives, the concert was that good.
when kim and i arrived, the queue to get in went around the corner and one and a half blocks up little bourke st, crazy huh… and after last weeks “the used” concert i was feeling very old, all the kids around, only this time they all had to be over 18, so then i realized even the over 18s looked/dressed/acted like kids…
then grampa simpson spoke to me:
I used to be with it, but then they changed what “it” was.
Now what I’m with isn’t “it”,
and what’s “it” seems wierd and scary to me.It’ll happen to you…
the club had my name on the door, so my fear of buying tickets on ebay subsided, the person who i bought them from ended up giving me two, apparently her other buyer pulled out, so great, two for one… when one equals $140, and they originally went onsale for $45, i wasn’t ripped off quite so badly… nice.
once brand new started playing, it was amazing the whole crowd was singing the 2nd vocal parts so loud you couldn’t hear the guy on the mic… amazing, i don’t think i’ve ever heard such dedication in an audience before… and then i kinda realised, the age/dress/behavior of the other fans there doesn’t matter, at all, we all love the music… so, i guess i’m now feeling more at peace with the emo masses… or just don’t care so much, in the end, i’m going for me, not to look at people or compare anything…
brand new played most songs from their two most recent albums, and the show went for two hours… the lighting and their seemingly genuine excitement was excellent… what more can i say… money definitely well spent, and yeah, my phone camera photos came out crappy… as expected.
