of course it is, but hey, i haven’t yet gloated about newcastle’s first win of the season, i watched the match early monday morning and was absolutely delighted!
this is how they ran on:
geremi, smith and butt played extremely well together, and putting n’zogbia behind milner is an absolute stroke of genius. i was also impressed with how our best possible team started, unlike another team I’ve been watching lately…
i’m not sure dyer will ever last longer than 3 matches without getting injured and i’m thinking owen is about the same, while I believe owen should stay at the club, dyer has had his chance… hopefully his move to west ham or wherever will go through… the rumour is he failed his first medical, surprised much? neither am i.
martins bicycle kick goal was pretty amazing, but the standout of the weekend had to be stevie g’s free kick against villa… the only thing is, by the way the ball is spinning, did it touch a villa defender or not?
which reminds me, I have to make some changes to my telegraph fantasy football team…
swap lamps for stevie g
swap solano for n’zogbia
swap d.james for anyone
i’ve been falling behind a bit and catching up with this crazy thing always seems so daunting… so i’ll try to wrap the last couple of days as quickly as possible…
umm…
the socceroos lost to uraguay, 2-1, goalkeeper error, very tough to swallow, what was weird was SBS didn’t even broadcast the match? instead they showed some iron chef i’ve never even seen, lose to a challenger where “eggs” were the theme ingredient? i can only guess there was some sort of licencing restriction with that international friendly… and i can only hope the same doesn’t happen at the upcoming asian cup! damn.
italian motogp, mugello, always a great race with so many italians in the lineup and the fans are die hard… good result, although i think barros should’ve let casey in for 3rd… it could even be a career limiting move on his part, but that’s probably just my biased support for casey coming through…
last weekend we finally finished watching series 3 of lost and 1 of heroes, the lost finale, i thought, was excellent and even surprising! i’m not going to give away anything, and yes, i realize saying the lost finale was surprising is like saying eggs are a good saturday morning breakfast, but anyway… speaking of, kinda, we have discovered a new favorite restaurant, it’s on st.kilda road called “barbarinos & wong“… it’s so good, the honey chicken, the sweet & sour pork, they even sell ribs and steak… i have a feeling we’ll work our way through their menu in the near future…
after spending far too many saturdays driving around melbourne, we’ve finally found a bigger place to move into, great, now all we have to do is pack everything up, move it, then unpack it all… can’t wait…
nah, it’s not that bad, and a few friends have offered to help us out, which is great… serious offers or not, people hate moving, i know i do, and in my book, even offering to help shows genuine friendship… thanks!
…and finally, to all those who are curious, yes, kim has developed quite a tummy, she had another check up and everything is going really well… the little guy is kicking and moving often now, oh and congrats to cass and adrian as well on the arrival of “dean michael”… excellent news!
the gig last night was excellent, the boys came out and kicked butt, lots of new stuff, which i didn’t even mind too much, although i can’t believe they played “invincible“… what a crap song, almost like a jingle for a nfp company or something?
weak.
hmm… the mosh pit, interesting general mood, i got the feeling the girls around me were annoyed at the guys around them (probably including me), just for being in their way; i guess everyone is a little selfish, and everyone thinks that they’re muse’s biggest fan… but nobody deserves to be at the front more than anyone else, i guess the stage could’ve been a bit higher so everyone could have a better view…
there were a couple girls that didn’t even come up to my shoulders in front of me, i’m sure their view was just the back of some poeples heads the whole night… i felt something under my foot at one point, i bent down to pick it up before i slipped on it; a severly smashed mobile phone, belonging to one of the shorter (or younger) girls… oops.
having taken a couple of mobile phone/camera photos, knowing that they’d come out crap, i grabbed my actual camera and went to take a quick movie of one of the encores… it was very lucky i had the wrist strap on, because about four seconds in, a security guard grabbed my camera off me, we struggled for a bit and he let me have it back… phew! i was sure i was going to lose it hey…
i’ve put a couple of movies from our trip on youtube…
on saturday before we left the house, we couldn’t find the cat, i remember being on the computer and her hassling me to open the window but she not much else after that, after a thorough search of our unit, i opened the window beside my desk to find her meowing up at the window she’d fallen out of!
the full story fall didn’t seem to have hurt her at all and she just seemed really embarrassed… funny animal.
when rossi crashed out, i was dumb-founded, what a crazy turn of events!
darryl beattie had just finished saying that he thought rossi might be running harder tyres and doesn’t look quite comfortable yet…
who’da thunk daz could pull such a pearl of wisdom…
what an excellent outcome for the championship overall tho, nicky was humble in victory (some would say almost to the point of being un-american), and rossi was supremely gracious in defeat, what a true champ, fighting to finsih in the points but still unable to do quite enough…

…or are k-marts advertisments with the below slogan vaguely orwellian?
“just be happy, daaa da-da-da-da”
the current motogp situation is quite unique; the championship will be decided at the last race of the season, apparently something that hasn’t happened in 13 years and even then wayne rainey who was leading had his career ending crash two rounds earlier… the year before that (1992) doohan and rainey battled till the end, and rainey ended up winning; the only time in the premier class’ history the rider arriving at the final round, behind on points, has ended up winning the title…
that brings us back to present day, nicky hayden arrived at portugals estoril circuit ahead, 13 points by memory, but having his team mate run into the back of him mid-race has pushed him 8 points down on new series leader; rossi.
as always, i’m torn as to who i’m actually supporting… i think nicky, he’s has improved remarkably this season, and him winning will prove rossi has a worthy adversary in this generation, rather than just statistics as has been the case for at least the last season, if not more! (sorry, sete!)…
the first video is the incident that could’ve been avoided had honda taken danny aside and said: “don’t do anything stupid when riding near nicky, and let him pass you if necessary”…
the second video is nickys reaction, i have to say, i would’ve been far less professional in his situation… that must’ve been so hard for him hey…
needless to say the final round should be an absolute cracker!!
so i watched newcastle play man u the other night, confession time; i’ve only seen three nufc matches so far this season but damn… i had forgotton what it was like to yell at the tv since the world cup has finished!
we came out in a 4-5-1 formation, and our midfield was pedestrian, emre looked like he just couldn’t be bothered for most of the first half…
at one stage ameobi turned manchester new boy vidic, and as vidic dived as if ameobi pushed him, and he grabbed for the ball and made sure it couldn’t escape from underneath him while he was on the ground (intentional handball much? damn), because ameobi was as insensed as i was, he started trying to kick it out from underneath him (”oh am i kicking you? oh, that’s a shame!”)… needless to say the ref completely ignores the diving cheat, and has a chat with ameobi… grr…
newcastle should’ve come to old traffod to fight and win, but instead the formation dictacted that they had come for a draw…
other things to note, the goals weren’t terribly special, one in from a deflection, the other a tap after someone hit the post, pretty boy prancey pants got a stern word for simulation, but no card unfortunately…
i just finished watching the sepang motogp, and wow, that was unbelievable, i know i probably say that everytime but i can’t help it with the philip island race so close…
first amazing replay; dani pedrosa catches his right knee on the bumpy sepang ripple strip in a practice session… it’s at about the 30 second mark….
next is quite a long one, but equally amazing, in last nights race rossi’s bike was obviously not nearly as quick as capirossi’s… but he fought well and kept pace in the tight technical sections of the track… coming into the final corner he knew he had to block loris, and slid the bike in sideways to be as wide as possible, but also to be as slow as possible and put capirossi off line… at about the 3 minute mark….
